Default When to change Shocks

Hi

I was wondering if someone could give me good advice. I have a Civiv CX 1996. I bought the car used 6 months ago and it's been great so far. I just replaced my tires, and the guy who didi it told me that I need to replace the shocks as well (The car has 100.000 miles) and he said the ones I have are the original ones, that should have been replaced at 65,000 miles. Is that true? How can I know? My regular mechanic didn't say anything about it, and i don't know if this one only wants my money.
Any help will be welcome

Alexis

I'm not sure if there is a reccomended interval for replacing shocks. Just push down on your car and if it continues to bounce more than twice you should get them replaced.

normally if there is a fluid leaking from the shock itself then your shocks need replaced.
