Default Why so noisy on the highway?

I have a 2003 EX Coupe. It has the OEM tires (Firestone FR690 P185/65/R15) still on it. I have 53,000 miles on those tires, but I started to notice a lot of noise from my tires while driving on the highway. There is still some tread left, but it is unevenly worn . I have never rotated the wheels.

I'm getting ready for a road trip, and wanted to fix this noise. Can anyone tell me if rotating/balancing my tires might be a good idea so I can get a few thousand more miles out of them? Will it eliminate the road noise?

Or should I just replace the tires with new ones. If so, any suggestions on some good (inexpen$ive) tires for daily driving. I'm keeping my stock wheels. I am looking at some Kuhmo tires b/c they are only about $42 each. Has anyone tried those?

Thanks for any help/suggestions.

If it's unevenly worn, It's molst likely because your alignment is off. Or you carrying whole bunch of weight consatnly[sm=noooo.gif] get yourself an alignment before your trip. I think pepboys or someone had a special for 65$ or something cheap. make sure you tel them your want the specs before they tought anything, and after as well. this will stop the odd tire wear., be sure to check your air pressure in all your tire and be sure they are all the same as this will cause uneven tire wear as well! Goodluck on your quest!
