01 civic diff seal
Hey everyone, I have a 2001 civic 4 door automatic.
I had an inspection done at Honda before purchasing the vehicle and they noted that "LH Diff deal leaking" as well as "LH inner boot leaking grease"
So I took off the CV boot and about a 1/4 cup of oil came out of it. It seems to have washed the grease inside the CV joint away as well.
There is no leak where the CV joint itself mounts to the differential however. Just oil spray coming out of the CV boot.
What seal would cause this? It looks like the oil would have to go through the axle somehow to get through the CV joint without leaking out it's sides.
Thanks,
Jason

So why would the 1 boot be leaking grease-turned-into-oil everywhere while the other is still packed with grease? Is Honda trying to screw me by saying the diff seal is gone? I havent looked at a haynes manual yet, anyone have a good drawing of the axle/diff? Is it at all possible for a seal to blow letting oil into the cv joint??
