Default 96-00 tranny details

hey i'm looking at getting a 96-00 civic to daily drive.. I am going to get an automatic transmission and I am curious about the trannys.. Many problems with them? Much of a difference in gas mileage between them and the manual 5 speeds? anyone know how much slower in the 1/4 mile than the manaul 5 speeds are? are all of the auto trannys in all of the available models the same (a4's)? Thanks guys

if you're worried about 1/4 mile times you want an s20 manual tranny...auto's will be slower and less reliable

you asked a question about 1/4 mile times.. who would even care about times if your just using it to get back and forth.. and everyone knows that auto's are going to have more issues over time than a manual based on how you drive.. plus a slight difference in MPG.. if ur looking for cheese specs .. go to carpoint.com and look up the car

i just figured some people here might have some technical knowledge.. i'm big into ford and if someone asked me about a specific year and engine and tranny i could tell them all about the trannys and what are stronger than others and what problesm are with specific trannys or engines etc and figured somebody here might know something.. instead all i get is "auto's will be slower and less reliable".. no **** but i asked for detail not a generic answer that any typical idiot would be able to tell you..

as far as going to those sites i have looked up all of that information and know the power output and all of that but they dont give your 1/4 mile times specific to tranny and that can make a big difference.. half the time they dont even say what tranny was used..

i dont care in the sense that i dont plan on racing it... but going from a car with over 300hp at the wheels to like 50 is going to be a bit of a change for me and i am just curious how much slower the auto is than the 5 speed.. dumbass...
