automatic to 5-spd???

Default automatic to 5-spd???
Has anyone done a transmission swap from a automatic to a 5-spd before, because I'm freaking confused!? Do I need a manual transmission subframe or is there even a difference between the auto and 5-spd?

what car? what motor?
i'm sure googling it would yield some results.
