Default Automatic transmission problem ,help

My son has a 1997 honda civic lx with an automatic transmission. Ther car has 100k miles on it. Recently it began to bang when put into drive. Now it is doing the same thing when it switches from one gear to the next. It is a bang and sort of jolts. It does this through each gear but is less prevelant in the higher gears. It does the same thing when it downshifts. The fluid level is fine. I had a mechanic look at it and he says the tranny is shot and is recommending installing a used one. A few questions:
1. Any suggestions on what could be causing this
2. Is there anything else I can check that may be the cause
3. If I get it replaced they want $1,350.00 which includes theused tranny and labor. Is that a good price?

Any help would be appreciated. I hate to invest that kind of money if there are other things that may be causing it that could be repaired

The tranny mount or a motor mountis probably bad. Replace it and I bet the issue will be resolved.

im going with a bad mount somewhere too. Especially check the mount connected to the rear of the motor and the firewall. That mount keeps the motor from torqing over and definetly gives a clunking noise and a nice hard jolt. Had that problem before

check the motor and tranny mounts.if thats not it,its the tranny thats messed up...maybe the cause is that he steps on the gas too hard and too often...OR,he revs it in neutral then shifts to D4/drive,when u do this,it just messes the tranny up hard....its kinda of like, you rushing and pushing a person to keep up with you when they're sitting....they're not ready to go,its a hard push/bump...does this make sense?lol
