Default Honda Civic 2008 DXG 4-Door Automatic Transmission problem

Hi,

When driving around, at around the 60 km/h (58-67 km/h is when it happens) mark when the car is shifting gears (4th to 5th? or 3rd to 4th? I am not sure) sometimes it is silky smooth but at other times there is a jerk. The jerk's intensity varies and sometimes it is enough that it feels like I hit the breaks for a fraction of the second. The jerk is felt by the driver (me) but not the passenger so much (maybe because they think it is a bump).

This problem does not occur if the engine RPM is high. So let's say if I am on a road with 80 km/h limit and I accelerate quickly, then this problem does not occur (i.e. my engine RPM is 2500 or higher). However, if I am on a road with 60 limit and traffic so that my acceleration is slow (and consequently the RPM is lower than 2000), the car will sometimes (I will say 60% of the time) jerk when switching gears. The problem is, the Honda mechanics could not reproduce the problem especially the one I went to where the roads are really bumpy. So if they don't know what they are feeling for in the first place, they won't notice. Please ask and I would be happy to provide any more clarification.

I am worried that the transmission will die. The car is under warranty, but the dealership refuses to fix the problem as they say "It is not a problem if it happens some of the time".

Has anybody come across a problem like this or similar to this? Considering this car is still under lease, what is the best approach to getting it fixed? I was thinking of buying it out but now that does not seem like a good option.

Thanks!

Do a couple of ATF drain and refill cycles and then go from there.
