2006 civic front end rattle / clank....
Help would be awsome......
I have a 2006 civic sedan lx with a rattle/clank that we can't fix.
Only going straight at slow speeds on horrible roads......not turning.
Moving the steering wheel left to right, slow or fast, doesn't make noise.
You can hear and sometimes feel the clank......like a hollow, loose sound and misc frontend rattles.
Normal and freeway speeds car is quiet as can be....on normal dips as well.
I have replaced the (06-060) front passenger engine mount.
I have replaced the front and rear suspension with all new honda struts, etc..
After replacing these, and the money in my wallet, i still have the rattle/clank.
Any ideas would be very helpfull.
Thanks in advance, Mike.

Help is here!!! I had the same exact problem as you until today. Mechanic put my '05 EX on the lift and showed me that the front right sway bar connecting link was worn out. I had checked everything myself and never saw the problem. Jack up your car on the frame about a foot behind the front A arm, so the front suspension is unloaded.(hanging free) Then grab the sway bar (it's just behind the axle shaft) and see if there is any movement. You'll know when you find the worn connecting link. My driver's side was like new and the passenger side was worn out. It's quite a sophisticated link with a small ball joint at each end. And it's only about 3" long. You remove it when the front end is hanging free. Soak both nuts first with WD40. (the ones on the car) The original nuts are 14mm. As you turn them loose, the ball and stud will start to turn, too. Just take a pickle fork and jam it between the bracket and the ball to keep everything tight so you can turn the nut off. After you have both nuts off, the link will just pop out. The replacement I bought for the right front was a Moog part and was $41.99 at Advance Auto Parts. Autozone doesn't carry the part. The whole job took me about 50 minutes including cleanup and putting away my tools. What a coincidence that you have the same problem. I posted here a few days ago and never heard from anyone on the problem. Hope this helps. Let me know if this is your problem too. Good luck!
