ok i have a 98 civic dx with the d16y7 in it, i have the y8 intake mani and im gettn the y8 head but i was wondering, whats the best trans overall for my car? is it the 96-00 ex tranny or maybe the 92-95 si tranny? im just wondering whats the best, to me id think that the si would be but i dunno.

 

96-00 is better because it has steel shift forks (92-95 = aluminum), but the gearing is about the same. I'd probably get a 92-95 though, because they're cheaper.

 

sorry to come in ur thread like this, but i was curious wat is the purpose for shift forks, ive always been curious??

 

yeah but what i mean is what has the best acceleration gears, i know the ek ex trannys are good compared 2 my dx one but which is the best? is the eg ek one the same as the ek ex? if so does that mean that the eg si tranny is the best? and is it a hard swap from my car 2 an si trans? thanks

 

obd1 dohc zc transmission with si/ex final drive swap..........makes for the closest geared transmission you can get with factory parts. but i wish you the best of luck finding that tranny other than through an engine importer.
