Default Can shift and lockup solenoids be cleaned?

OK, following up on my post yesterday, the car isn't flaring between the 1-2 shift, it's flaring between the 2-3 shift ('98 EX Automatic)

Got a hold of a manual, and one of the troubleshooting items listed is the lockup shift solenoid.

It's an intermittent problem, and I've flushed the trans fluid with Honda fluid a few times already. My question is - if removed, can the solenoids be cleaned, like with carburetor cleaner, and put back on the car?
