Default clutch fluid reservoir? and Transmission Fluid.

Where is the clutch fluid reservoir, and what do i fill it up with if it needs more? i herd it was brake fluid but im mad confused. i didn't even know there was a fluid for the clutch other than the trans fluid.

Is this the correct trans fluid to get for my MT, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...7557&viewitem= i only need 2 qts?

It's near the brake master cylinder reservoir.

Yes, that's the correct MTF.

The clutch fluid runs from the clutch master cylinder on the firewall through hydraulic lines to the slave cylinder on the front of the transmission.
When you push the clutch pedal, the piston on the master cylinder pushes hydraulic fluid through the lines and to the slave cylinder, which moves the slave cylinder piston and moves the clutch fork, which disengages the clutch.

Clutch fluid and brake fluid are the same thing, and they are better referred to as hydraulic fluid. They only say brake fluid on the bottle to make it more obvious as to what it is most commonly used for.

Transmission fluid (MTF) is actually inside of the transmission and it lubricates the gears, bearings, and syncros.

Also, where the clutch disc, pressure plate, and flywheel are (called the clutch housing), there is no fluid at all.

So, to recap:
  • MTF is inside of the transmission itself.
  • Clutch Fluid (or hydraulic fluid, or brake fluid... all the same thing just with different names) is in the hydraulic line running from the clutch master cylinder to the clutch slave cylinder.
