My tranny is starting to making a loud scatching noise in 1st 2nd 3rd and sometimes 4th. but the noise goes away when press down on the clutch. Some people say its my clutch, others say its the bearing in the tranny. Just need opinion, thanks.

If you are sitting in idle and there is a noise which goes away when you press in the clutch, my assumption would be input shaft bearing in the transmission.

 

Mainshaft bearing..

let me guess, higher gear you go, noise become less..

Yes the noise usual goes away way when I increase in speed, you mainly hear it in 1st and 2nd , and when its in idle.

 

circle in black is the mainshaft bearing. I still have about 6 of those bearings (new) LOL.
