That might be the worste idea Ive ever heard to improve acceleration. If your top speed is 120 your going to be revving at like 6k on the highway! The b16a2 has an extremely close ratio tranny to begin with why would you ever make it closer? Spend half the money and build the motor or put in a turbo.

that's a bad idea for a dd. just use the money on something more useful, plus, it won't help you any in the long run, track times as well as et's will suck if you do that (not to mention gas mileage isdown the drain), you'll be changing gears more than giving throttle, so in the end, it doesn't help you at all for your car. invest the time and money into some actual power adders that will help you.

i have "actual power adders", as you put it. i wasjust wondering if anybody knew about a better gearing set up. and red2000si dont you mean 2or3times the money on a turbo or building my engine, not half, since i can get trannys for about $500 but i guess i'll do more searching. thanks anyway guys

you don't have to be a ***** about it, i was just stating that it's not a good idea, you can do whatever you want, and you'll find out the hard way. you simply have the best gearing for the particular motor you're using. usually, if people go turbo, they usually like to make the gears longer in order to take advantage of the boost range according to spooling time. and even if you can get trannies for cheap, you have to figure the money for the gears, labor, and downtime (which usually isn't a big deal to some people). you can get it if you want, but in the end, you could use the money for piecing together a turbo kit, or work on the suspension. if you're not turboing, then you won't take full advantage of it. you can do what you want though. people might not be that familiar with it because most b/d series trannies have very good gearing, unlike h series and some k series.
