Hi All,
I need some help. I've got a 97 Honda Civic LX and the push **** on the shift level has gotten really hard to push in to put it in gear. This is an Automatic Trans and I was trying to get some info or help on what i should do to fix this problem.

Try spraying a SMALL SMALL amount of wd40 in it. If that doesnt loosen it up it would sound more like a mechanice problem. Take off the plate that has the gears on it and see if anything down in there is binding it up(spilled soda, dirt, dust).

 

dito on the soda being sticky....
i spilled my coke a few weeks ago and my shifter was hard to pull back outta park for awhile.... just take it apart and clean it....
just take out the two screws on the side of the handle and the top part should just slide up and just clean the button realy good in some water and put it back on..
might wanna pull the whole console and clean under it as well.... mine was HORIBLE!!!!!!! thiers like a freaken cup hole down thier practicaly... and lets just say people have been spillen coke along time and it was preaty nasty under the console!!!!! soda and some starburst..... how ever the hell they got them down thier the world may never know!!!!
