push starting

call me stupid here but i want to know how to push start my car with out damaging anything. i have been told,havent tested anything yet, to get the car rolling and either use second or reverse and to just snap off the clutch, please correct me if i am wrong.

1st or 2nd, yeah....get someone to push then when she's rolling pretty good, slide it into first and pop the clutch....should fire it right up.

Just to be clear the key needs to be in the "on" position.

^^^ Good point ^^^ yeah, be ready to drive. belt buckled, key on, etc.

from experience, have a helper push from the rear, while you have the drivers' door open and you pushing from there...once both of you have it rolling at a decenc speed (just fast enough that you can hop in without hurting yourself) hop in while your buddy keeps pushing. Press the clutch, grab 1st, release the clutch rapidly (pop it) and there ya go....don't use a hill, I've seen people get out run by their car, and thats just not cool
