Default release bearing

experiencing clutch problems almost 100% that its the release bearing as it chattering when clutch is not depressed and really rattles when driving at low speeds, what i would like to know is how long until it is completely broken and will it damage any other transmission parts.
also...
i have a fairly good mechanical knowledge and do most of the work myself on my car but one thing i dread is having to do the transmission how difficult is it guys i hate the thought of messing with the hydraulics, any advice or help be much appreciated

Default RE: release bearing

Pulling the tranny and doing a clutch R&R is a cake walk. Half a day tops as long as you have general experience and the correct tools.
