short shifter
the ebay ones are made of cheaper material. i have an ebay one and it works fine. the only downside for ebay shifters it their durability. I have heard of many people who have had their ebay shifter break, however many people never have experienced this problem.
so basically, they function great, but their durability is a risk.
solution=keep your stock shifter in the trunk or something.
also keep a small basic tool set in your trunk (mm sockets, socket wrench, a few screwdrivers, etc.)
the shifter is amazingly easy to switch out and if you are so unlucky that the shifter breaks below the console area, you can switch it on the side of the road in a couple minutes if needed. usually though, if they break, they break near the shift ****, so you'd still be able to use it until you can get the car home.

my eBay short shifter has worked perfectly for over a year now, but i've heard of other people's snapping off within a few months. Guess i got lucky, you might be the same, or you could be an unlucky one. It's your risk. If you wanna risk having to spend another $20 and replacin the short shifter every time it breaks off, go eBay, or you can drop a few more dollars and get a B&M or Skunk2 short shifter and be set for life.
well i think it depends how hard you slamming gears... of course if you throw the shifter to hard or fast and it can not go any further so your puting more stress on the welds which like anything can break if you put enough pressure on it. be easy with the shifter and you shouldnt have any problems. im actualy gonna buy one right now off ebay
I have a B&M and I love it, well worth the $50 I got it for off ebay. I would also go with a dual bend as then you can move the shifter closer/further to you just based off which way you install it. I had it one way and liked it, but flipped it around to bring it closer to my hand and like it even better. And the B&M is steel not aluminum, so if you snap your shifter then you really need to stop lifting weights and shifting so hard
And on a related note the energy suspension shifter bushings really firm up the feel, I installed some when I put in the shifter and it feels better when engaging the gears, they can be had for $10-15 on ebay

I don't know if all the ebay short shifters are shorter than the stock shifter, but B&M and Skunk2 reduce both throw and height significantly

Thats mine, and its even shorter if I have a regular shift **** on there, the one on there now makes it taller and its still a bunch shorter than stock (which personally I like, although maybe some people want just throw and not height reduced). With your standard aftermarket style shift **** it would reach up to the "T" or maybe the "S" in HURST in the pic

o ya the urethane bushings rule to stiffen up the shifter. one thing i forgot about. ill buy that later. i got bills to pay so can only buy the cheap short shifter dual bent one. this one came with a shift boot, shift know and dual bent shifter. i doubt ill use the shift boot but hey why not check it out if its practicaly free.....
