I actually tried to support my car with my shifter (accidentally) the other day and it snapped.
LOL... how'd that happen?!

I think he forgot to attach the shift linkage back onto the car while lowering it from a jack...

haha! its not just me. when my motor blew, my car was down for awhile, so i lent my shiftknob to a friend, and when he gave it back to me, he was pretty sheepish because it had a chunk of aluminum still screwed into it.
i asked, "OBX?"
he says, "Yep"
me, "Thought so."

the B&M one should be good, and DC makes a decent one. but the only steel one ive found is the Skunk2 and i think Blox.

Hmm, that OBX prejudice is coming in a little clearer now.

You might as well chnage the shifter bushings while you are down there. They are only a few bucks. The threads on any shifter you get for your car are going to be universal, so you are cool for any **** that you want.

Are these the shifter bushings your talking about?

Or is OEM ok?

Dude, you'll never be able to damage a shifter, it's pretty much a hunk of metal... just get whatever. I have a $3 ebay one and I love it.
I have 3 buddies that have broken off aluminum short shifters. Make sure you get a steel shifter.
