Default Stolen car - Steering wheel damaged ! What now ?

hi, so this is my first post an i will begin with a nice one:

my car was stolen and they hotwired (i guess its like this) they made real nice stuff to my steering wheel as you can see from my pics (sorry abou my pics but its not possible to get better cause i have to take them just in front of steering wheel with a flash and a auto machine...some may be out of focus....)

So in Honda they told me it will need a new one steering column cause the old one as you can see is counterclockwise turned after they had forced to turn on the ignition of my car! They removed the ignition piece and hotwired ! It was a really nice job !![:@][:@][:@]

So the steering column would need to be new, is this possible ? I mean, should ireplace this column with a new one, arent any kind of solutions for this...

I just wanna know your opinions, cause they want as much more $$$ than my car has for his sale value !!! So i guess my Honda will be put on garage and stay there for a long long time.....

Call local salvage yards to find out whether you can purchase a used steering column for your Civic. You would also save a lot of money by doing the work yourself, if you are handy. Instructions are available in Civic service manuals located here:

speaking like it looks great!Hehehe! But i guess thats not an easy job for me....heheh Just tell me: driving with this for a few kms till next service shop wouldnt be dangerous for the car? I mean, would the steering column open or fail or car loss direction or something like that !?!?!

Your picture does not really allow one to evaluate the damage, so it's difficult to answer your questions. By the way, I'm sorry that this rude crime happened to you. I hope they apprehend the bad guys.

With the engine idling and the transmission in neutral, can you freely turn the wheels full left and right without any problems or abnormal noises? If so, drive slowly forward and test your ability to steer the car. If you don't experience any problems, then you might be able to safely and SLOWLY drive a few kms to a shop.

ok! Thanks alot ! The problem is like i said, the steering column is turned counterclockwise, so i guess the steering column will afect directly obviously the wheels direction, right ?!!? If the column isnt straight, would the wheels be ?!!? Of course not ! Yes ?!
