transmission oil

i have a 91 civic dx 5-speed. i am woundering how much oil does the transmission hold.

there is a over fill plug on the passeger side of the trans, you put the ratchet in it and loosen it then fill trans with 5w-20 motor oil or honda manual trans fluid until it starts coming out hole. theres 2 of then on the trans one at the bottom to drain it and one above the cv axle, the upper one above cv axle is the one you open.

Its a lot easier to fill it when you remove the VSS sensor on the top of the transmission. Remove the fill plug (17mm) and just funnel some oil into VSS sensor hole until you see some oil start to spill out from the side. I used around 2.5 bottles.

he has a 91 civic it has a cable speedo, there isnt a vss sensor on his trans, they have a big bolt ontop of the trans you can remove and add oil, or you can remove the reverse light sensor and fill with oil.
