Who has what?
have manual and am happy with it. i just cant drive autos, dosnt feel right to me...manuals are just one more thing to let me know im in control of my car. only thing i dont like about manuals is if ur stuck in major traffic..but thats usually not the case for me.
This might not count as far as the survey goes, but I've got a Mazda3 with the 5 speed auto/sequential sport shifter which is quite responsive and functional. Just tapping the gear lever to downshift is really like pressing a "WARP" button. The RPMs leap and the car pulls like crazy starting at about 3000rpm all the way up to the redline. I have to remember to change lanes before I downshift and give it gas otherwise I might ram the person that I'm really just trying to pass.
And if I'm in traffic and I downshift from 3rd to 2nd, this automatic gives me some honest to goodness engine braking and I can slow down considerably before I have to apply the brakes.
Around town, it's usually pretty easy to leave the shifting up to the computer. The auto trans is programmed to shift up to 4th or 5th as fast as it can to keep the rpms low and improve the fuel economy. Generally, that's alright but as soon as I hit some traffic, I put it in manual mode and keep it in 2nd or 3rd so I can have more torque immediately on hand to cut through traffic.
This really keeps me from getting the EPA milage estimates from the car but, even driving aggressively, it's efficient enough to make me happy. If it really bothered me, I could just leave it in automatic. But it doesn't! I love listening to that engine rev. So much so that I'll wait a little longer to shift than I should just to hear it when it gets close to redline.
