Worth transmission repair?
I had a 98 Civic, 2dr with a check light (Transmission) that has been on for 2-3 years. 153,000 on the clock but has been serviced regularly since purchase. I have to put the selector in "2" to pull away then shift into "Drive". I do need a new/rebuilt trans to pass inspection and wanted to know if this would be worth doing. I've been told around $2000-$2500 to fix the problem. How much longer can I expect the engine to last (Roughly) and as it stands what price can I expect for a quick sale and trade in? Thanks for any advice.
Never rebuild a civic/teg trans. You can always find one one hondamarketplace.com or cragislist.com or your local junkyard to use. the only reason to have your transmission worked on is to be built for more power.
WTF automatics wont last as long...... no offense but thats stupid!
just look for a used automatic tranny. if you can do it yourself or find a cheap shop to swap them out then thats cheaper than a rebuild.
