i havent seen any springs that will lower you atleast 3 inches most will go about 2...it wont be hard like the coilovers ride..a lot of ppl dont like coilovers because of the ride so they get springs so there is a better ride quality...so if you want to lower the 3 to 4 inches and a hard suspension i would wait the time it will take you to get the coilovers....you dont have to buy shocks too...you can spend the $100 give or take some shipping and get the coilovers and run you stock shocks and then later on get a good set of shocks...thats what i would do...i have learned a while back...dont rush into things and go the cheap route you will regret it in the end..plus the springs are the same if not more in cost in most brands

my springs give me a 2.5" drop (tein s), and the ride is alot less harsh than coilovers. Coilovers will give you a tighter suspension though.

Theres no problem with just doing springs... but you will eventually need new shocks down the road.

and a camber kit if your trying to get a 3 inch drop (which will be hard to do with springs).

if i putt my stock shocks on the car with tein's springs($150) this will run ?
and tehn after when i have money i can putt the coil over with shocks

what about if i buy coil over and putt them with the stock shock?

what about if i buy coil over and putt them with the stock shock?
i've had my coilovers with my stock shocks for over three years (its not recommened) and never had a problem.

i ran my stock shocks and it was fine for a while but eventually the from driverside was gone so i put new ones and now the ride feels a lot better but dont worry about it you can run them with stock at least for a while if not a long while

lowered 3" will probably blow out your stock shocks, it overcompresses them and hits the valve inside. get a coilover setup and lower it about 2" then when you can get the shocks too, lower it as low as you want. definetely get a camber kit though, you will wear out your tires in a week or two with it lowered 3"

could you explain the camber kit? (what is that?)

is it a kit that putt the wheels at a different angles?

yeah, if you are looking at the front of a lowered car, the tires look kind of like this / \ a camber kit is adjustable, so an alignment shop can bring the tops out so its like this, l l the first one is called negative camber(a little is good for performance, a lot is hard on tires) and the second one is neutral camber(good for tires, ehhh, for performance) then there is positive camber \ / really no good for anything.

yeah do a camber kit. No one mentioned that to me, so when i got my springs put on, I found out all of the sudden I needed a new part SOON lol

3 inches is probably borderline for a camber kit... you might be able to get away with it from an alignment. 4" drop you will definately need a camber kit, they are expensive... a good kit will run you around $200

is it possible for me to install the camber kit by my self.... is it hard???

sacicons
09-22-2004, 10:09 PM
yeah, its not too bad. if you have basic skills you can do it. it just replaces the upper control arms. and over 2" and you will need one. id suggest one if you lower it at all. but thats my personal preference.

in my opinion its only needed for severe drops and daily racers looking for that suspension edge...The biggest advantage to camber plates is that you can adjust everything how you want it when you want it. My drop is 2.5 inches and I dont have them. Should I have them... maybe, its all personal opinion. They are definately a handy tool for racers, but for an everyday driver who randomly plays around from light to light... not a must.

Its pretty easy to install. You will remove the bolts and all from the top of the strut... line up the camber plate, attach the strut to the plate, then adjust how you want it.

i gotta agree with sacicons on this. if you lower your ride at all, you should get a kit. a three inch drop will cost you more in tires than you'd spend on the cambet kit itself.

you see polo, he has double wishbone suspension. if you lower YOUR car, then no, you dont need a camber kit until about four inches. but on a dbl wishbone system, the neg. camber on anything over 2" will kill tires in short order. ive seen a bagged celica that, with the front bumper almost hitting the ground, the front tires were almost perfectly cambered. a macpherson strut suspension pushes straight down on the LCAs, a dbl wishbone pushes at an angle. my rear is down about 2.5" and the camber is killing my soft ass Dunlops. even with the shims in the rear correcting it about 2 degrees. i really need the kit for the rears. damnit.

well...say i drop my car 3 inches....should i get one?

people told me with out it it would kill my tire fast(i drive the car everyday)

sacicons
09-23-2004, 09:28 PM
yes, for sure. i think i can get you a good one (its just like the skunk2 or omnipower one, but black) for 150+ shipping. its the best kit out there.

civicjuju
09-23-2004, 10:47 PM
well...my plan on this car is to make it real good now i want the best part now and never have to change them again i mean.... i don't wana to buy sh*t now and then later have to change it.... so if you tell me it's the best camber kit on the market for the price then....

skunk is good, the bolt type or (progressive style) rear is not the best out there.

sacicons

$160 for camber kit....with shipping....let me check tonight....i'll get back at you...;)

civicjuju
09-24-2004, 02:21 PM
sacicons....when you say camber kit for $160 it's a pair or 4 of them?

sacicons
09-24-2004, 02:45 PM
just the fronts. there is also a little do-it-yourself thing for the rears. it replaces the stock bolts on the upper arm and you get shims to put behind them, it corrects up to 3 degrees of negative camber. i can include the bolts and shims, same price.

this is what i have in the rear.

his this included in the one you sell me or shoul i look for one....

is it hard to instal.....

the front i'm pretty sure that i can do it but the back....i don't know is it hard?

sacicons
09-24-2004, 09:24 PM
nope, its pretty easy, its kinda tricky to hold the shims in line while you stick the bolt through. the one on NTXs link is way better, but as you can see, it another 100+ dollars. ill give you the shims free if you want them, but if you want to get the adjustables for the rear like NTXs, go for it.

civicjuju

Just a note, if you install firmer springs (which most lowering springs are in comparison to stock) on stock struts/shocks the springs will overpower them. You get a "pogo" effect over bumps. Besides skittish handling, it will cause your stock struts/shocks to wear faster. This in turn magnifies the bouncing.
