hey on my new 92 honda civic hb i lost the only key to it and i was wondering on how to get the old one out?

 

What so you mean? Like in the ignition

 

ya just where u put the key in to start it

 

did the key break off? if you need a new key, go to the honda dealership and they will cut you a new key for like 5 dollars. if you can't get the key out of the ignition cylinder, you might have to take it out and get a new one which would run anywhere from 50-150 dollars.

 

Sorry about ur loss, there is an alternative though. Im not too sure what its called just yet, but as soon as i find out ill post. What you can do is get a separate ignition. Its able to be wired as sort of a push botton start, except theres not button but another key to start this one. It can start your engine just like a push start, as long as the key is in and turned to where the car is on. While i find out what the instrument is called, go old skool, try using needle nose plyers, tweesers, hell throw some bubble gum and duct tape in there. If you get the other half out, im sure a key maker can replicate the patter and get you a new key for about $4. Good luck and ill try to post again asap.

 

just about the same thing happened to my 95 civic before I bought it. I guess it involved a child trying to start the car with something NOT the key... Here's how I'm driving it now:

If you want a slightly stolen looking car all you have to do is pull off the bottom plastic from around the ignition, remove a bowl-sized curved metal plate, and you'll see a plastic bit smaller than a yo-yo and larger than a quarter opposite the key-insertion side of the ignition. there should be two screws holding it in place. Remove them and pull the piece off (watch the wires) You'll see a little hole in the plastic part that mates up with a little twisty thing from the ignition. All you have to do is jam something in the hole and twist to start the car. Make SURE you have the ignition in a place that won't lock the steering on the car. I almost beefed into my own car when I was test driving!
