yes i did post this in a different section but i didnt get much response...soo....

driving home the other day my trans gave out on me, hoping it was something minor i took it in.
1st place i took it in too doesnt do trans but said it'd probably cost me up to 1500$
2nd place i took it to was an actual trans shop, they said the best they could do was 1150 who qoute said my trans exploded
3rd is my cuzin who does car **** and he said 900$

considering that my parents will be paying really for anything that goes wrong with it because 99% of my funds are taking care of college expenses for next year.

question is to you is it worth it to get it fixed, mind you i dont know jack about transmissions. Though they are already having it fixed with a used one with some 51,000 miles on it.
its a 95 civic ex 1.6l with about 123,000miles on the engine..
D16z6 engine....

plan on getting a 2nd job over the summer...should i A get a new engine and or rebuilt the one i have now? or 2 look into a lease.. which my parents already thought over..

question to anyone who knows..are there any B series engines that work with my P.O.S auto?

for those kinds of prices you could almost be able to buy a b16a2.

take that and drop the bottom end out, replace the rods and pistons, boost, and you could be running over 300hp on a good tune on mild boost with just over 3 grand.

yeah i know i want a new engine but my question is, do they have and B series engines that match up with the trans on the D16Z
because my parents already went ahead and had a used one put in...or in the process of being put in which i should get back by tomrrow hopefully.

Yeah all B series will drop in. Just need the right parts. The z6 is a good engine too. You can't get much out of it all motor, but as Nail said it responds well to turbo. You can get a new tranny on ebay for less than those prices listed. I'd expect to pay about $300 for one. If you could install it yourself, or find someone that will hook it up for free, that would be a cheap fix.

No a B series engine won't hook up to D series tranny.

so i should look for a complete swap than if i choose to go with a new-used engine like a B series.

I do have the choice to build the engine up though.. all i know is when i hit the gas there is a little smoke outta the exhaust and i think im burning off oil because im not leaking it and after a few months im very low on oil, and the way i noticed is my girlfriend was behind me in her car and so i check my oil and i had almost none... so i dunno what i could have done...i think i burned out the piston rings.

i might look just into building up the D because the tranny im getting in how has like 50K miles on it.. so honestly there is no point in getting a new B series just yet... maybe next year...unfortunatly i should have said something to my parents about this, so they could have killed to birds with one stone.

its funny i know that like building the engine is good but i really dont know the power increases of say like pistons...rods(which atleast i think dont add anything) and anything else really..
