sound distorting
Hey whats up everyone, i got a 2000 civic and an entire aftermarket pioneer system,i no somewhat about sound system, cuz i put it in myself but my question is that y is it when i raise my music up,it starts distorting after a certain volume,it feels like it gives up n all u hear is blahhhh blahhh blahhh, what couses that and im amusming its the speakers but when you go n buy speakers/subs what are you supose to be looking at to prevent distortion or at least blast it so that i get barly any??? sorry if my question doesnt make any sense lol but thanks in advanced...
Well it sounds like you're just turning the stereo up too loud for the speakers to handle... are your speakers amped? if you have an amp you will be able to reach alot higher volumes because more power is being sent to them... if they are already amped, maybe you just have cheap speakers.
yup i a amp on it,its kinda a no brand name but its says 2,000 but im assuming its around tops 1,000 and the pioneer subs are two 12" with a rms of 500wtt, and the insides are also hooked up to a separate amp of 600watt wich is also cheap so i dont exprect much from it,but alot of people like my system but i went to a car club not to long ago and i heard some stuff that put my system to shame, and i wana get rid of my current sys and build an entire new system but first wanted to do some research and its just a question i had in my head ever since i started sound systems on y it keeps distorting, even with pretty good systems when they blast it,it distorts but at a lot louded and higher volume,so im assuming it might be frequency or something like that....but yea my system sucks for the moment
well first if your headunit has options to change the levels of you low mids and highs i would see what you have your lows at, because if they are turned up high you can cause distortion in the speakers, and since you already have subs you dont need lows in your other speakers, but my head unit has a sub control setting so i can turn those up without turning up my lows, i usually run my lows at -5 and they sound really good... but, my friend has pioneer speakers and they distort at high lvls also.. memphis makes some good speakers and so does polk audio, but if it isnt just that you have your lows turned up then i would check on your speakers see if they have ripped cones or anything and maybe you just need better quality speakers.
Your answer would be to throw that amp away or use it as a door stop. It does not do 1000watts. If it could, it would be on fire. It does more like 250watts and does a bad job of it. Have you ever seen a TRUE 2000watt amp!? It damn near takes to men to carry it.
A $200 200watt amp would blow that out of the water.
