Ok i have a 00 civic coupe with the D16y8....well it did have that motor. I have taken it out and was lookin to put a B18B into it because i was goin to boost it. but i have decided not to boost and want something alittle better! Now i have about 4 grand to spend on the motor.... but here is were it gets tricky...my car was origanally a automatic...i want to switch it out to a manual of course!! so i have 4 grand to get a ecu, clutch pedal assybley, motor and tranny, and clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder!! any suggestions... could go alittle higher if its worth it!!

B18c1. where are you located? actually, i might be able to hook you up on an ITR swap with pedals and all from the Teg, but itll be a bit more than 4K.

its a good thing you decided not to go with a B16B boosted because a.) that would not be smart because or the already high compression of the motor and b.) because you cant buy a CTR motor for less than $4,000. they usually run about $4,500 you best bet to get the best performance for you money would be to get a b18c1 and go to a junk yard and find a teg that runs and take the master and slave cylinders, pedal and all that good stuff

this may sound crazy but wot about the GX20 "the beast" from mr gasket. popular mechanics built a civic with that engine and ran it to 400 hp

hehe. umm... b18b, not b16b. and i looked around for that motor from Mr Gasket, and the only version i could find was an NA one. cool, but i saw that article in PS and wanted to see the specs on the FI motor.

correction thats just the motor axles are not included, shift linkage not included, and i think you still have to add shipping on to that.............like i said about $4,500

sacicons

shipping is free, but linkage is another 100 bucks. and you really should get new axles anyway. the axles you get for swaps should just be used for cores. so yeah. about 4500. or damn close.

I am at Little Rock Air Force Base in Arkansas. If you can hook me up hit me on my email at bored_guy26@yahoo.com and make the subject Honda motor. If you can hook me up i have a couple of sources here and there maybe we can work something out! And for that guy that said i was goin to boost a b16b invest in glasses cause i wrote b18b...i wouldnt boost a vtec.

i have a boosted vtec and haven't had a single problem with it. i would recommend it. good luck with your motor!

well i know alot of vtec motors get boosted but I personally think you can get a better deal on a non vtec and and boost it and get just as good if not better results for the money! If you already have a vtec motor and then by all means go for it...but i can get a b18b for next to nothing and then get a turbo for the price of a b18C1 with bolt ons.

if i had deep, deep pockets id get a b18c1, a crower stroker kit, and a full-race turbo :D

sacicons

screw stroker kits. id rather put that 2k or whatever they cost, and put in a bulletproof top end, and balance and blueprint my motor. then rev that thing to 10k. then turbo it.

KnightRiderCivic
04-12-2005, 07:33 AM
yeah......i am thinkin more along the lines of cams, port an polished and some bolt ons! i dont really want to drop all this money in this car that i am not goin to get back cause its probly out the door in a year or two....as soon as i am outta the military and have been workin for a year i am getting a SRT-8 300 and i might get another second gen rx7 to play around with again...they are really fun if you know how to work on a rotory!!! and if you blow them its just some seals.

Nail I3unny
04-13-2005, 01:23 PM
the thing about stroker kits is they are virtually bulletproof and will increce your b18c1 (thats what ur drivin right? thas what im droppin in mine) from 1.8L to 2.2L. i believe the b18c1 kit costs around 2.2k

and knightrider, RX7s are the ****! no matter what gen u go with (well, thirds are a bit overpriced) my dad has a 1st gen 1985 and its one of the main reasons i got into cars at as young an age as i did

KnightRiderCivic
04-13-2005, 06:04 PM
i wont do the H22 swap cause of the wieght! power to weight ratio is just not worth it to me....and i havent seen springs for that swap yet. oh and i am not running any motor right now just lookin for a B18c1 here is a couple pics of my car

your car is screaming "WASH ME! WASH ME!" LOL. if you have the $ to spend, look at the c5. or the k20-24. i think you'll be happier. it's a bitch of a swap, but it's worth it. it looks like you have a nice setup there, now to get it on the road. good luck.

sickcivic420
04-13-2005, 06:08 PM
the H22 weight wont affect you too much considering you have a coupe, it would if you had a hatch. but im sure you will be more than satisfied with the b18c1. your damn luck to have a garage too!!!

the piston speeds in a stroked motor will destroy you in a high rev motor. oh yeah, and GO B18C1!!!:D

sac i gotta question for you, whats the advantage of going B18C1 over a b16a?? i mean you can get the b16 for like $1500, where as the b18 is like $3500 right? why not get the b16 and put the extra 2g's in upgrades?? just curious ya know.
