My SRS light has been on since i bought my car,is this bad? is something broken?please help

 

Look to see if the airbags are there.

Are they? If yes continue reading. If no, get airbags, lol.

You may have to reset the SRS system. Search the forum for "SRS" and you'll find something about resetting. OR, take it to a shop.

 

My seat belt latch assembly was full of crap, everything from paper to food; that's what it's like to have teens driving it. Anywho, I took the plastic cover off and cleaned it out, then followed these instructions and the light went out. I'll report back if it comes back on, seems to be a common problem for Civics. Btw, I used a paper clip to reset it.
