Mechanical Problems & Technical Chat - Tranny Swap Gone Bad

I just put a maunal transmission in today and when i started it up after putting everything bad on its was running.. so i cut if off and put the wheels back on and droped it on the floor then i notice that i could really select my gears right... its like i can get it in 1st 3rd and 5th.... i tried to put in in nuetral and roll the car back and i cant find nuetral.. i even went under the car and move the linkage myself to try and get it in there... whats going on? plz help i need to fix asap to get to work

Maybe you put the shifter on backwards?

Disconnect the shift linkage and see if you can find all the gears by moving the control shaft on the transmission. If not you have a problem inside the tranny. Otherwise it is of course something with the shifter.

Could i of did something wrong when i put the tranny on? could this have anything to do with the fork?

Its not the shifter i put it on both was.... what else could it be

It has to be in your shifter linkage or something along those lines. Or it could be the transmission itself. Do you know the history of the transmission?

Problem fixed...it was in the linkage... there were two pieces @ the end of the linkage instead of one... the ther peice besides the boot...
