Product: Hawk HPS brake pads

Distributor: www.autopartswarehouse.com (http://www.autopartswarehouse.com)

Vehicle: '93-'04 Civic EX without ABS

Cost: Purchased these months ago. At the time i believe the price was about $70. Looks like the price is ~$80 plus shipping now.

Installation:Very easy.Just needthe common garage tools. sockets, c-clamp, wire brush..

Installation time: From placing car on jack stands to driving out of my garage about 45mins.

Review: Love 'em.They haveastrong bite whenbrake is appliedvery firmly. Mixed with good tires, they sure do improve stoppingdistance. You may find yourself locking up the brakes if you don't haveABS when really getting hard on the pedal.I've put about 15 autox events on them this year along with atleast 8k miles of street driving and theyhave proven to be greatperformance pads.

As far as cons, nothing major. I've noticed the pedal almost feels a little "soft" when applying the brake pedal under normal conditions. I've bleed the lines and adjustable the brakes to make sure it wasn't those and the pedal still feels a bit squishy. It's nothing serious but some may not like it. They produce a fair amount of brake dust. If you like to keep your wheels shiney, you may hate having to clean the dust off every few days.

Pros overweight the cons for sure in my book. Worth the money and I highly recommend.

Nice review!

As for the spongy pedal, have you checked your Master Cylinder? ((I.E. loose bots, vacuum lines broken, etc...)) Could be something wrong with it and not the pads, or have you already gone that route?

i've replaced my MC due to my old one going bad, bleed the lines, adjusted the shoes, etc etc...still slightly soft but again, no big deal. to be honest, it could be normal pedal feel for these cars and im just making a deal out of nothing.i just havnt driven another '92-'95 civic with about the samespecs to compare.

as for the brake dust, expect more dust from just about any aftermarket performance pads. has to do with the materials.

I think it's just a characteristic of the pads because I have these too and mine experience the same weak bite in, but they ramp up in braking power as pressure is applied. They also resist fade well, and peddle feel seems to get better as they heat up.
