Sub Install with stock head unit
Hey everyone,
I am installing a sub into a stock 2003 civic and had a few questions. I've done more than a few installs but never one where i didnt have preamp outs to work with, i went and bought an output convertor, this thing has hookups for L/R rear, with rear rca outs, and L/R front with front rca outs, my plan was to hook this up right at the stock harness and run an rca from the trunk just as if the thing had an aftermarket head unit in it. The part im getting confused with is the amp turn on, i was looking at the radio wiring harness diagram( http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/HA-Wiring.pdf)and i'm not positive about which pin it is, i believe it is going to be Pin O, +12 Volt Ignition Wire, but i wanted to get a second opinion on what i was doing here before i got into the harness and messed **** up. Also i've always used an external crossover to control gain and the input into the amp, is this really that beneficial or am i just making more work for myself by not letting the amp do it by itself.(Its only a single 12, 400watt amp)
Thanks for your time

I know what it sounds like, the rca's are being run to the front for a future head unit swap, I'd just like to know which wire people utilize as the amp turn on, not your opinion.
Thanks again for any help

The amp im using has line level inputs, the crossover i have also has these, this is on my younger cousins car and what i'm trying to do is make it so that when he does get the money to buy a head unit all he will need to do is take the stock deck out, plug the rca's in and go. This is why i got an output convertor, just looking down the road. Thanks for the idea.
