Exhaust Help
I am in the process of purchasing a 1998 Honda Civic with a JDM B16SIRII engine swapped in. The previous owner says there is no exhaust system and that the exhausts are coming out straight from the header. The car also has a "Blackwidow" body kit if that makes a difference because the guy said something like a cat back system wouldn't work due to the body kit. What do I need install as far as an exhaust system goes to pass inspection and not lose any hp, etc etc? Thanks.
i have not actually had to get the car inspected as of yet but i am guessing that i am going to need a full exhaust to pass inspections. so if i install a straight pipe from the headers can i then install a cat back system or do i just need a muffler at that point. i am not exactly exhaust savvy so any pointers would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
this is what my state does during inspections(for emissions):
On-Board Diagnotic (OBD) Emissions Inspection
North Carolina has a new tool for fighting ozone-forming emissions from gasoline-operated cars and light duty trucks. Since 2002, licensed inspection stations have been required to use a more effective method for testing the air-pollution controls on cars and trucks. It requires them to conduct inspections using the vehicle's on-board diagnostic (OBD) systems, or computerized equipment installed on all new vehicles since 1996. Though they are still required to obtain a safety inspection, diesel-operated vehicles are exempt from the annual emission inspection.
