hi, i live in the spring hill florida area and i am currently having trouble with my 99 honda civic tranny..... i had to have the drive axle replaced, and the ppl used castrol import car transmission fluid for hondas, and such...well afterwards, the car was started, and there was a whining noise..... if you put the car in gear it will go for a few seconds then stop..cut the car off, and start it again, and it will do the same thing.....im thinkin it may be a sensor of some sort on the tranny, anyone know anything bout the sensors, where they are located, and maybe how much they would cost to replace, or if i should just go ahead and replace the tranny? the engine code is dy167, it is a 4cy non v-tec....this motor is not the original so, im not sure what if anything was done before i got the car.......any tech help would be appreciated. i am not very familiar with hondas......thanx....

Is it manual, or automatic?

A D16Y7 would be the stock engine in '99 models except the EX, HX, or Si.
