Default Boost/Vacuum

So I got my gauges run today, not mounted quite yet becasue I had to get to work, but run. I hooked the vacuum line up to the boost gauge and watched it on the way in to work. I'm getting ~ 20in. of vacuum at idle and 15in. at crusing speed and more importantly-6psi of boost at WOT. Wtf?? That means I am missing like a pound or two. How much valve overlap is there on a stock vtec cam? I am thinking I might just be sending boost right through the combustion chamber. Maybe a vacuum leak? Does PCV have anything to do with pressure?

your vacuum #'s sound about right so I doubt there is a leak. As for boost there are a few factors. With a roots blower (not positive about other s/cers and turbos) when the exhaust is opened up (header, larger piping, muffler) you will get a lower boost reading, but the power is still there. With an intake your boost is increased.

(my supercharger runs at 7.5 psi stock) I have no exhaust done yet and an intake and Im showing a boost reading of just under 9 psi right now. My friend has the opposite, stock airbox and a full up header back exhaust and he's pushing 6.5 psi. We both run neck and neck and have the same diameter pulley.

I read somewhere that exhaust will lower
boost pressure, but can that be good for power? I should be at ~ 7
maybe even 8psi. I guess that's a testament to how free-flowing my
exhaust is, huh? I suppose if I can make the same power with 6 pounds
as I would with 8, then I guess it's Ok since 6 is probably a lot
safer for my motor, right?

Btw- All this time I thought you had a Tacoma?
