Default 2002 honda civic d-series motor swap

My son has a d-series motor and we bought anthor motor from an 02 civic.The mechanic said the new motor wasn;t going to fit because it had to much emission crap.Ever heard of that?As our car doesn;t have all the emission.CAn swap to make work?

I THINK it should just be a straight swap.. what model civic you have?
What engine did you purchase?

the car is a dx. motor out of lx.

yeah it's the same motor, it's a D17A1, just a straight swap in ..

If both cars are 2001-2005, the engine will fit.

You would have a D17A2 with VTEC then. If you just want to get the car running for daily driving, it should still work to just swap in the basic block and head assembly and keep the manifolds and everything else DX; don't hook up the VTEC.

This is assuming the car is stock and the only problem is a bad engine. If someone has already modified the car, it would be a special case.

Also you may want to find another mechanic who knows his way around a modern car and doesn't treat "emission crap" and all that other electronic stuff under the hood with such disdain.
