'95 civic 1.6 4cyl auto-trans

Question '95 civic 1.6 4cyl auto-trans


lately I need to insert door key into trans lock-unlock to put lever in neutral to start car.
Can I DIY this or is it more?
Anyone please help

All i know is that when you push the break pedal, it "unlocks" your automatic shifter.
Look for a switch around your break pedal. maybe its loose or it went bad or something.
BTW does your horn work?
Check your fuses

It should be able to start in park OR neutral. If not check the interlock switch on the shift lever.

The system that locks the handle in park unless you press the brake is on the the same circuit as the brake lights. Check if the brake lights work first.
