Default engine q?

I just bought a 93 Ex for $400,from a girl that goes to my school. After all the paper work and the car was finally under my name I started to look at the engine model to check if it was v tec or not(it does not say it on the valve cover, but still has the solenoid) I searched online and it say that it belongs to a 90-91 civic (D15b2) I was wondering if this swap was legal or should I get another engine/
p.s. I could get civic and acura engines very cheap.

I looked under the engine chat in the forum and it says that it is suppose to be the one on it but I think its wrong because the engine valve cover doesnot look like other engines in stock cars of the same year but IDK what do you think.

If the engine is the d16y8... the valve cover won't say vtec but it is. It's SOHC vtec. However, the d16z6 which is basically the same engine does say vtec on the valve cover. They're both SOHC though...

Basically SOHC is like having one ********. But I've seen several SOHC cars that could walk all over DOHC cars.
