n00b question
Just a quick question... not a Civic owner yet, but i'm thinking of trading my Xterra in for an 04 Honda Civic EX with 129,591 miles.. The Dealer wants $9,800. Is it worth it? Any major problems with engine or timing belts in this year? Or does anyone want to buy my Xterra ?

RE: n00b question
With that many miles I would hope that the timing belt would have been replaced already.
Do a carfax on it and see how many owners because those are kind of high miles.
I know mine is somewhat low mileage, but I have only67,000 on my 01 civic
Just check it out, take it to a mechanic if you aren't that farmiliar with the car and have him just check everything over.

RE: n00b question
I did run KBB and Edmunds... they are pretty close to $9500. I will definately ask about a Carfax. Will the carfax record a timing belt change? That was the big thing I was worried about, when do they usually go on Civics? Most vehicles require that change at the 100,000 or 120,000 mile maintanence

RE: n00b question
Honestly, many people have different views on when the timing belt should be done. I've seen people have it changed every 60k. I waited till about 120k to get mine done. If the timing belt has not been done yet, do it immediately is my suggestion. I do understand that Civics (Hondas in general) last forever (if you take careof them), but I think 130k is little high for a 2004 IMO. I bought my 99 Civic with 115k, and I thought it was high.As macbeth said, get it checked out.Good Luck with the purchase and selling of your SUV.
BTW, are you able to trade the SUV in for the Civic? How much did the dealer say they would give you for the Xterra (since your asking if anyone wants to buy it)?
