Default 2000 DX stereo install help..

Would i be better off if i just went ahead and took my deck to a car audio shop to be installed?
I know next to nothing about car stereos.. and i don't want to screw anything up.

Do it yourself. It's so easy. There are several threads on here explaining how to do it on a 6th gen. You just start unscrewing lower dash panels, pull all 3 out, unscrew a few bolts from underneath the center console core support, then pull the center console out, disconnecting some stuff in the process. If you can be comfortable enough with removing panels, you can do it.

The 2000 is real simple since the stock radio is standard DIN sized, the same size as aftermarket ones. Get a harness adapter so you don't cut any wires in the car. You wire the adapter to your new radio, then unplug the old one and plug in your new one via the adapter. You don't have to modify anything on the car at all, simply disassemble, swap out radio, and reassemble.

Your removal/install will actually be easier than this because it's on a 2000 and this is from a 96-98.

Man... it just seems like a lot of work... and a lot of disassembling...

If you're doing car audio, this becomes second nature. It's not as bad as it seems. You just have to remove a lot of covers.

Look at it this way: you can clean your carpet while the arm rest is out.

I'm not too fond of radio wiring because of the shoddy job they did with mine. I have just wires, no amp, no radio, nothing. I just want it rewired to my stock speakers but I have no idea how to do it.

^Just hit up a junk yard, cut the harness off, and start taping or soldering wires together. Match the colors, then put hook all the stock stuff back up.
