I had though about buying a set of their HD series components a while back, but that was a lot of money to spend on a set of speakers that I had never actually heard in person, or talked to anyone that had personally owned them. so i never bought them

Oddly, I find the Type R woofer to have a cleaner midrange than the CDT CL series. A friend of a friend here in town has a very expensive set of CDT components that he paid $750 for and honestly, I think the Alpine SPX Pros sound better. Ooh, I need to look into a set of SPX Pros for myself too!

ya the SPX PROs sound awesome. The only problem is that the tweeter is a 1.25 inch tweeter so it won't directly fit into the factory tweeter pod. you would have do either customize the pod, or drill your own hole for the tweeter. Which thats not really that big of a deal to most people, but I don't like drilling big holes like that in the door panel if I don't have to.

but i guess for you, if you are going to keep the CDT tweets none of that really matters.

the type x sound amasing a guy that i used to work with at the install shop i worked at bought 2 pairs for his vette but the crossovers are complete and total junk! they literally fell apart and the alpine rep told us that all of them do that only after he got done selling the speakers to him what a jerk
