New Sub/Amp

is that the power series sub? jbl reccommends sealed boxes for all there beefy subs. you can use ported, but i've fried a lot of them in ported boxes. if you want to really get some juice out of that sub, no offense, drop the kenwood. we sell them, and they don't hit 1800w going downhill with a backwind. i'd reccommend fosgate 1000.1 and up for that beast.

I don't know if that Kenwood is as horrible as the KAC-9104d with regards to it's overly optimistic power ratings or not. IIRC, Kenwood only CEA rates certain amplifiers for 4 ohm loads and their 2/1 ohm power ratings are "if struck by lightning" power numbers.
If I had to guess, the 9152 should give you about 600 watts RMS and change at 2 ohms and you will be lucky if you can get it to play for more than 5 minutes if you ever run it at 1 ohm.
Other than that, you got a pretty decent deal if it included sub, enclosure, and amplifier.

I agree. it's a good deal if you got it all together. I'd still be wary of the Kenwood. Make sure you use good wiring and not some Wal-mart knowck-off wiring. It's sad, but I've been seeing quite a bit of that cheap stuff coming through our shop.

haha, yeah a friend of mine used to be an electrical car mechanic for high end car wiring. So he hooked me up with Monster cables to the battery and good wiring to the amp/sub and the reciever (If anything i said sounds wrong, sorry im not good with electrical haha. but i'm positive i'm getting the best out of my amp/sub.)

still running it in a ported box? i know the ports jbl has you make are relly shallow. but, the sub is for more sq than spl (from what they're telling me). i doubted it a bit, but those nin sealed boxes are killer.
