Default 97 Civic EX replacing audio

I have 97 Civic EX which has radio on top(above heater control) and tape deck at the bottom by the cup holders.
I was wondering...if I wanted to get an after market CD player(Sony, Pioneer, etc.) what would I replace with? the radio or tape deck?
Would it affect my keyless entry system if I replace the radio part?
I am thinking of doing it myself at home, does anyone have any tips for me?
Thanks guys!!

I have heard something like that... I dont own a 96-98 so I couldnt really tell you. You will swap with the old radio, getr a cd player that has cd changer controls. Make sure the company also make an in dash cd changer (blaupunkt, eclipse, nakamihi). With that you will swap out your tape deck.
