Default 98 Civic EX alarm install

Hey all, I have an alarm and everything for the car and wiring diagrams and I attempted to search the forums but I can't find anyway of properly installing the alarm. Do i need to cut the wires at the harness behind the radio or can I tap into them some how properly. I'd rather not cut the wires at the green harness which has nearly everything in it. This is my first attempt and an alarm install as well so pointing out anything I'm doing wrong would be great!

It's a Viper alarm system I got for cheap through a friend and this is the diagram I'm going to use

http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/...tail/1051.html

I just wanna know how to properly connect these wires to the green wire harness behind the radio and if there's any way besides cutting them out of the harness. Thanks!

for the keyless entry yes you need to tap into the radio where it tells you to...
but thats al that should be hooked up to the radio.....

how about this? The diagrams I printed out show there is only negative connections coming out of the radio harness. The alarm has positive ones coming out I believe, I really don't fully understand the problem quite yet but I don't want to pull the wires out until I am for sure. Is there any resources or diagrams anyone knows of that they could share with me for installing an alarm in it? I just can't find any more then what I already have. Anyone who has done alarm installs in a 96-98 civic with keyless entry would be much appreciated! thanks!

I tapped into most of the functions on the factory keyless entry plug.

ETA: My factory radio had a bad volume **** and I broke my last working transmitter, so I just went with an Autopage alarm and cut the harness. If you are tedious, you can try to remove the wires one by one with a dental pick or something but it is a royal PITA.

Cool guys thanks I'm getting somewhere. how ever I'm not sure how to get the keyless entry to work properly. I've hooked what appears to be the correct cables IE the door lock / unlock circuit in the harness to the door lock circuit on the viper alarm. It's an ESP 600 If i didn't mention that before. It suggests I use them from the actual driver door circuit though. I'm not sure why I can't get it to receive a signal aren't they ground? I believe it is green/orange and green/white one being lock and one being unlock. What would I want to hook those too on the module. Using a volt meter to find what sends a signal when the fob sends unlock it shows a voltage rise meaning it sent the signal. I'm not sure what's going on there and just keep studying the manual hehe. Any ideas on what I wanna do there

again thanks for all the help so far!!

Does your alarm have built in relays for lock and unlock? IIRC the ground signal sent by the alarm has to be fairly strong. In fact, for the unlock pulse, the service manual says that 4 volts should be running through the ground to lock the doors and it takes a 1 volt pulse to unlock them.

My Autopage had built in relays for the door locks, but the unlock all feature for a 2 stage unlock required a relay to work properly.

^BS at least for hondas.... ive used the alarms ground outputs for the stock keyless entry systems for years with no issues!

ive used cheapie alarms and good brand name with the same output. they all work fine... lock and unlock pulse.

Actually, I was too chickensh*t to NOT use the relay since Autopage said one was needed on the second step unlock. ETA, it sure did feel weird to use a relay to send a friggin ground pulse.

second step unlock??? WTF does that mean? i know some cars need 2 pulses of the ground or a longer output pulse but those you can select thru the alarm system....
