i say go with alpine. i have had all my type r stuff in for over a year now and it has been great. my type r 12's will beat VERY hard and the speakers sound great and i can turn it all the way up without it distorting.

 

i like kicker... i've had my same sytem for over ten years and it sounds as good as the day i bought it... it's been through 4 cars and still getting busy... just don't go cheap with either brand... there is some truth to the whole "you get what you pay for" line...

shop around a bit, best buy and circuit city over price speakers. (i cant remember if i am allowed to or not, but woofersect.com is the place to go) a set of alpine type-r's is cheaper on that site then a set of type-s's in best buy. My friend spent 1500$ there and everything was in perfect new working order when recieved. But to answer your question directly, ALPINE ftw[align=left] [/align]
