pcupo12 put it perfectly, and for amps i have been throughly impressed with HiFonics. My friend has a Hifonics 1000watt rms Brutus amp powering 2 12" Xtant subs, and it hits awesome (its also in a homemade fiberglass box which helps but still). You can find hifonics amps on ebay for around 200 or so, and they never heat up like other amps do, plus they look sweet

peace, Evan

dont get any electronics from walmart. (the occasional pioneer 6x9 is ok) but if u want the sound to be crisp and clear with a good bass, you might want to consider Infinity. u can pick up the fosgate 3002 for like 150 on ebay. or 250 at your local sterio shop.

ORIGINAL: bigindian869

I don't think they make type r's anymore, I think type s is the new model.
The type R is still being made and they type S which has been around just as long as the type R is a step down from the R

The most important thing to know when looking for an amp if you already have or know the subs youe want. What Ohm are your Sonys? I belive Sony only makes 4 ohm so if you have 2 you should look for a mono or 1 channel amp. I would also reccomend rockford
