Default amps for speakers..confused...

alright so i've got all the esentials for car audio, except a multi-channel amp for my speakers.
I guess i have never come to understand the need for an amp for those. What improvments do you get? someone help me out here.

60 watts RMS

weel i run my new tweeters and front 6's of the HU the back 6s or 6x9s im not sure if u run the off the HU or amp. ubt the amp is mainly for the subs in the trunk. u can buy another amp for the 6s but i think it has to be a 4 way amp. amps rnt my specialty so any other feed back would b helpful for both of us

well you speakers say "50 RMS and 200 PEAK" so they can have 50 watts contantly, but your radio that says something like "45x4" means 45 watts PEAK or MAX, not RMS. So basically, your only sending about 17 or 18 watts RMS normally from your radio, so adding a 4 channel amp will help by sending more watts to your other 4 speakers, getting you closer to the "50 RMS" mark. What you gain is more clarity and work from the other 4 speakers, after all, music isnt all about bass, you need to hit the highs and mids too and a 4 channel amp just helps your speakers to achieve that.

It's all what you do with the power... Not how much you have. However, a HU likely does not generate 50w RMS (more like what was previously posted). However, a god quality amp will allow you to manipulate the power to do more. I ran an entire system (four high end speakers and one 12" sub) with a 4 x 20w amp. And then I entered it into a major car audio competition and won best of show.

I typically run with ONE 4-CH amp. I run two channels for left and right signal channels. I then will bridge the two remaining channels for the sub. Its a clean set-up and tends to work well. There are a million possibilities.
Regards.
