Default Anyone put an amp in their dash?

Looking to add an amp up front in my 06 civic ex sedan- has anyone tried to put a smallish amp in the dash somewhere. I realize it's not the best for ventilation but I'm only running the fronts and I really don't want to run lines from the trunk (I also don't want to use any room in the trunk). I have the bass system kit so I won't have much room under the back deck. The amp is a MTX 37x2 so it's minimal in size (about 7"x9"x2").

Ultimately want a system that is invisible from stock.

I'm looking for comments on this amp fitting and working, not whether the sound system is a worthy one, thanks.

i hear you but that means running rca's and power- if it's in or under the dash, i don't have to run any extra wire under carpet/sills, etc.

eather way you still have to run the RCA's, remote wire, and power wire and the wires for your speakers from the amp, under the seat would be good..its VERY easy to hide the wires. Try also looked in your center console in the front of your car on the floor, theres usually a gap to the right of your acc pedal behind the center console

yes, I'll look there- I know I have to run wires but keeping everything inside the dash requires much less effort and cable length. Under the seat, I would have to separate the RCA from the power line, running wires under each door sill and back to the dash. Harder for thieves to steal as well.

You're kind of being ridiculous. You have to run wires either way. Do you really need to ask if between the firewall and dash is a good spot to mount an amp? Haven't you heard of people's amps over heating in the back of their car/suv?
You don't need to run the rca's and power on different sides if you have any kind of decent rca cords. That's just an old myth.

Careful, your ignorance is showing.

Yes, I don't care what type of wires you have, run the wires on opposite sides of the car. Its not an old myth.

I second the "it not being a myth" part. I dont care if they are $5000 RCAs. Run them away from the power wire.

so this is why I want to keep the amp in the dash if poss.- no running power under one sill and rca's under the other and then back to the dash, all to run 1 pair of spkrs in the front- time consuming and wasteful. Is that "rediculous"??
