audio set up questions
whats your opinion on the factory head unit?
i have keyless entry, and the thing for keyless entry is in the headunit????? so to change the headunit would make things a nightmare for me to still have keyless entry. is the stock headunit good enough if i want to upgrade the door speakers and maybe add a sub?

the keyless is in the radio from 96-98.but ya running speakers and a sub off the factory radio is ok, but i do recommend switching out the radio. to switch the radio and keep the keyless all you have to do is get a reverse radio harness as well as normal radio harness, relocate the factory radio to somewhere else in the vehicle, and run just the power, ignition, and ground to it. then wire up the aftermarket radio like normal.
if you keep the factory radio with the sub you will have to put in a RCA line out convertorv so that you can get the signal to the amp.

well if i don't have to mess with the keyless i want a new headunit.
can i do it in stages or do i have to do it all at once?
like, for example, could i upgrade the headunit, then a little later on replace the door speakers and tweeters, then later build a sub box for the back and install that? like could i do it in 3 stages if you will. or is it a one shot thing, do it all at once?
also, are component speakers the ones that have the tweeter and speaker seperatly? i would get those becuase theres a place for speakers and a place for tweeters in my doors.
its a 2003 LX.

most people will do it in stages as you call it, cuz theres not a ton of people that have the money to do it all at once. and doing it in the order that you wrote would be the best course of action IMO.
also you componenet speakers are the ones with a bass woofer and a tweeter seperate, and most of them havea crossover that seperates out the signal. and if you are willing to spend the extra money, that is definetely the way to go
