Default bass blockers?

sup everyone,

whats the scoop on these Bass blockers? ive seen them on amazon, and they look alright. these are little devices that you hook up just before the speaker. i have a type-R 12, so i dont really need my speakers playin low notes. would these help reduce distortion in my cheap pioneer speakers? if so, which frequency should i get?
My music is an equal mix between rap, rock, techno, country...you name it, i listen to it. lol.

Also, my rear deck rattles badly. i used expanding foam in my trunk, and i was planning on doing the same there. are there any potential issues i should be aware of? any areas i should not spray?

Thanks in advance,
Jon

I wouldn't wast the time or the money. Use the XO on the amp you are playing them with. If your NOT using an amp.... even less of an issue.
Get your XO set on the sub amp, and turn the bass down on the deck.

Why not adjust it on the head unit?

Yeah you should be able to adjust it on the head unit or engage the HPF on the amp driving the speakers. It will work a lot better than a cheesy single inductor in line with the speaker. Blocking the bass AFTER the amp will not prevent the main problem which is having unnecessary bass overdrive the amp.

well if your speakers are powered off the radio and your radio is older or cheaper model that doesnt have a HP filter then i would use the bass blockers if your speakers sounded bad without them....

but if ya got good enough speakers then you probably wouldnt need them.LOL so if ya want better sound i would spend more money and replace the speakers with some nice ones.... then ya wont need the bass blockers and youll have a better sound [8D]

ive use them before and they are decent if your radio sucks or speakers suck... or both.LOL

Well i have an Alpine CDA-9826 HU with pioneer....idk the model...
speakers. they're pioneer's mid-grade speakers.

The speakers are running off the HU, so i have no HPF for them.

so basically, just readjust my LPF, Gain, bass boost, and sub sonic AFTER i turn the bass down on the HU?
crap....haha. I didn't even consider the simple stuff.
damn.

thanks everyone!

I have them on my aftermarket speakers. I dont need bass from them because i have subs in the back. They do block off some of the bass so i think they are worth it. It lets me turn it up a little more without making the vocals sound like crap.

that's my goal.
on songs with heavy bass, i would like my sub to bump without my speakers distorting.
i'll try adjusting everything first, and if that doesn't work, i'll buy the bass blockers. I can get four of them for about $25, so it's not gonna hit me too hard.

from what i undwerstand, they do the same thing, but it requires some extra work.
idk. for ~$25, i'm set on the bass blockers. that is, if im not satisfied with the adjustments.
