Battery Help
i have a 94 honda civic and i'm having a little trouble... i added a system in my car, 700.5 kicker amp, 2 10" kicker subs, 6 pioneer interior speakers and 2 tweeters... the problem i'm having is that when the bass hits, the amp turns off and turns back on which i was told is because of the strength and the battery can't give it that much juice so i was told to put a capacitor or a optima battery... i chose to go the optima battery route cause i still wanna go some more work and i know the battery will keep getting drained... so i tried to buy the optima 51r battery but they don't sell them anymore... my question is, which battery will be a great subtitute... someone please help
capacitor....it will save your alternator.
It will act as a surge protector for the battery.both a battery and capicitor are recommended though. but the capacitor with keep the amp from surging too much power from the electrical system. most people put a surge protector on home theaters and computers, why not your car stereo too? it will also allow you amp to recieve the full 14.4V that the amps run best at. most alternators, especially not civics', don't put out the full 14.4. in turn you will get better performance out of the amp while saving your alternator and battery at the same time
